Raising Hope So Underrated

This is a show that deserves a bigger audience.  It very smart and always funny.  The Actors in this show are always overlooked at all the major award shows and that is a pity.  This is the 3rd year and I hope we get a 4th season.   I think the producers of this show should cast "Honey Boo-Boo" in a guest role . Then maybe people would tune in..

PSYCHO II THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY

2013  marks the 30th Anniversary of this UNDERRATED sequel.   The reviews were mixed in 1983 and lets face it  The Critics had their knives ready when Universal Released this film.  I was 16 when the film was released. By then had seen the original lots of times.    Now again this was 1983.  Every 16 year old teenage boy was waiting for "Return of the Jedi"  however I was waiting for this film and when I saw this film "I loved then" and I still love it today.

Now this film doesn't cheat the audience one bit.   Everything that is talked about can be traced back to the original.  No liberty was taken with the timeline and every characters action seem plausible.  .  (Spoiler Alert)
Now when Meg Tilly shows up a Norman's life I knew she was trouble.  I knew that she was using the same alternate name as Janet Leigh's characters did in the original,

What I truly loved about this film was that it only used the name "Psycho II" it doesn't  have anything with the book "Paycho II".  Had the producers used the book then (Spoiler Alert) then the character of Norman Bates would only been in maybe 5 scenes.

Now if you have never seen this film then rent it and make part of a double feature night.  Watch it along with the original.  You will have a blast.

ARGO WON BUT IT IS NOT THE BEST PICTURE OF 2012

I think "Argo" was a very good film however it was not the  "BEST PICTURE"  of the year. It won the Academy Award  because lets face it Hollywood loves to kiss their own ass.

My problem with "Argo" is the ending (Spoiler alert).  They beefed up the ending so  much.  it becomes a "Hollywood Ending" that rings  false. Now the ending instead of being tense and suspenseful it almost  becomes comical.

Ben Afleck has proven to be a good director.  His acting has improved as well however in."Armageddon"  he was too too pretty to be an oil rigger and to unconvincing  in the overrated "Shakespeare in Love" and was way  beyond terrible n "Forces of Nature" "Gili" & "Pearl Harbor"

My vote for Best Picture of the year is "Zero Dark Thirty".  A film that stuck to the facts and dares the audience to  draw your its  own conclusion.

ZERO DARK THIRTY

Now "Argo" is a very good film but "Zero Dark Thirty"  is 10x better.  Where "Argo " glamorized and "beefed up" the story "Zero Dark 30" stays true and the results is a  much better and powerful  story that leaves the viewer to draw their own conclusion.

If you missed this at the theaters then makes this a must see.  I don't think children would want to see this but if they do watch it with them.  Not recommended for anyone under 12.

Black History Vanessa Williams The first African American Miss America

If your were not around in 1983 when Vanessa Williams was crowned "Miss America" then you might not understand what I am about to say.

In 1983 Michael Jackson made news when he was the first African American to have his videos played on the new Rock  Cable Channel called MTV.

In September o f 1983 Vanessa became the first African American Miss America for a great reason SHE DESERVED it.

What is hard to believe is that Vanessa Williams (after she won Miss America)  got tons of hate mail  from all walks of life and for all sorts of stupid things.   She was however  a  great Miss America.

Now cut to the summer of 1984 Penthouse Magazine published racy photos that Vanessa posed for "BEFORE SHE WAS CROWNED" Miss America.   She ended up losing the crown because of the scandal.

What is sad that  VW defened the pageant all through her tenure.  Many people kept called the Pageant "Archaic"  and "Out of Touch".  VW defended it with all of her might however when VW needed help after the "PENTHOUSE" controversy "Miss America" did nothing.

Now all these years later I find it funny that VW is still thriving and "Miss America" is on life support.

HALLOWEEN 35th Anniversary DVD or Blu-Ray

Okay I am a huge "Halloween" fan.  This marks the 35th anniversary of this chiller.  Many things have been written about this film.  Today's "Brain Dead Kardashian Worshiping" generation teens will not sit through this film and not mumble  "I am bored" "This is not Scary" or "I don't get it"..

I am sure we will get a new "Anniversary Edition" this year I just a new release includest some of the found footage of alternate takes  and bloopers.

John Carpenter made his name with this film and for good reason.  "THE FILM  IS GREAT"

The Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald 1977 Tv-Film DVD

YOU MUST WATCH SOUTHLAND WITH Michael Cudlitz

If your like me you hate most reality shows.  I could never get into "American Idol" and and all the copycat shows.  "Keeping up with the Kardashians " to me is show about whore who happens  to have a TV Show.

This brings me to "Southland".  It is riveting. Yes cop shows are a staple of TV dramas but the creators and producers a have a fresh approach and the these characters.  Seem real,

I love the character John Cooper played by Michael Cudlitz.  It is a ground breaking role and it is very sad that he gets ignored at the "Golden Globes", "The Emmys", and even the "SAG" awards.

I dare you not to watch  one episode and not get hooked.
