Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History Of Friday The 13th A REVIEW

Snobs of any kind will never like "Friday the 13th"  or any of the sequels. However the audience for these films were always rewarded with a good time and this documentary is made for them and you know they will love this. I know I did.

I have been of fan of these films for the beginning.  I have seen all of them in theaters.  Yes I liked some more then others but I think of  these films like James Bond movies.  Some of those are loved and some of them are hated.  

Now what I love about this set is the fact it was made by fans.  These guys know what questions to ask and we get the answers.   

This set really is worth buying.  (IF the $30 price tag is too high buy it any way and sell off the dvds or blu-ray)  that would reduce the price.

The part of the set I love the most is the segment on "Friday the 13th Part VII".  This happens to be one of my favorite sequels.   

What was sad to find out was that Paramount discarded  the deleted gore.  So we will never get an unrated version however it is still possible to get one. Basically everything that was cut can be re-created on the cheap,  Almost all of it can be insert shots.  Easy film with body doubles and easily can be re-incorporated back into the film. 

I love the fact that they got Frank Mancuso Jr (who was heavily involved most of the sequels) who gives a very truthful interviews.   

The only thing I wish that they could of done was go back to the locations where they filmed "Friday the 13th  Part V".  I grew up in  Ventura County CA the area where they shot part of the film.    FYI the restaurant where Lana gets it has been used in lots of films and tv shows including "Raising Hope" and "Twin Peaks".  One day I will post photos of that location. 

This set  runs 7 hours and has a bonus dvd that runs an additional 4 hours.    

  

1981 PLACENTIA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT FILM TEACHER'S PET I WANT TO SEE IT

I was a Freshmen in high school in 1981.  I remember seeing a story on KNXT Channel 2 (Now KCBS) on a movie premiere of a student made horror film "Teacher's Pet".  I always curious about this film and I wanted to see it then and still want to see it today!  Now that it's  fall and "Halloween" season I was curious about this film (after 31 years) so   I looked on You Tube to see if it ever posted and so far "no"!

Now in 1987 I remember also reading a story in the now defunct magazine "Premiere" about the guy who made the film.  I don't remember much about the story except I remember the guy who made it said "It did make money"..


Well whoever owns this film can you please send me a vhs or Dvd Please!    I'll pay for it

HAS GEORGE "EATS" EADS been fired from csi

Word has it that George Eads is on leave from CSI.   He said to had a fight with a pregnant writer on the show.   Its not known if and when he will return.  Maybe CBS and the shows producers are seeing if the ratings will decline without George. However getting rid of him and hiring someone else playing a new character would reduce  the cost of the show!

WHY BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO IS ALMOST GONE

Blockbuster Video And why it declined. Blockbuster was a ruthless corporation. . When they came along VHS was the home video format. At the time most NEW RELEASES ON VHS would cost (wholesale) about $60.00. Thus that is why "VIDEO STORES" came along. These independent stores would buy 5-10 copies ( a huge investment) and rent them out. When Blockbuster opened up a store they would buy 20-40 copies and charge about $1.00. Once they drove the mom and pop stores broke they would be the only store in town and then they would  raise  rental prices. Movies that were once only $1.00 to rent now were $2.50. Once domination happened in one market BLOCKBUSTER would then open up another store in a new area and repeat their process. This happened everywhere. Once Blockbuster was the #1 Video Chain  they became very stupid on how they would handle the stores that they owned! Like most corporations they went by the "ONE SIZE FITS ALL". This model in reality was its downfall.

I worked at a Blockbuster from 1997 - 1998 and saw this first hand. I worked in an upscale neighbor hood. My customers wanted the "Art Films" and Blockbuster would never buy the films that these customers wanted to see.   I remember BB bought 30 tapes of "Contact". This was a huge waist for this store because every night there were still copies still left on the shelf. In fact the store had about 6 tapes of this film that never rented once! We later sold them off for $12-$14 ea but that was still had a huge write off of $46 each! These films might of rented out all the time at other stores but not at mine. Every store has a different customer base and Blockbuster failed to see this.

They however should of bought copies of the following films that would be hot rentals at my store "Paradise Road" "The Van" "Shall We Dance" &; "Kiss Me Guido". Now not every store would be able to rent out these films however my store would! Now you might not of herd of these films but my customers did. After all this was Woodland Hills Ca and lots of people in this area are not only movie fans but they worked at the major studios. They knew movies! They wanted to see more independent films on the shelves. So my boss let me order films and the films that I ordered (see the titles above) and you know what these films (and many others I ordered) were always rented. In the year I worked at the store I helped drive up the business by 20%. However Blockbuster failed (again) to see how we drove up the rental business for that location. I quit working at BB only because I was tired of working 2 jobs. 2 years after I left this location closed...

Now another reason why BB is going broke was because they kept raising rental prices! Once DVDs came on the market BB cost of good went down by 2/3. The wholesale price on the average DVD was now $15-$20. However BB still kept raising DVD rental prices. I remember having to pay $5 for a new release however REDBOX had the same film for $1. BB kept losing market share to not only REDBOX but NETFLIX as well. There greed did them in.

BB is now  gone. Killed by Cooperate Greed and Ignorance.  

Elizabeth Hasselbeck Fast Exit from "The View" is all so telling

Rumors proved to be true that Elizabeth was no longer wanted on "The View".  Her contract wasn't being renewed.    Now it was denied of course when it was leaked that Elizabeth would be departing however most of us knew it was true.

Now what I find so telling is the fact on Tuesday FOX NEWS announces that Elizabeth is joining "Fox and Friends" in September.  The next day at "The View" is Elizabeth's last day and there isn't even a "Clip show" to highlight her past 10 years on the show!    THEY WANTED HER GONE!   

Good Luck EH at FOX NEWS.  Glad your there because I never watch FOX NEWS. 

TWIN PEAKS FIRE WALK WITH ME WILL DALE COOPERS DELETED SCENES EMERGE MARCH 25 2014

On episode 3 of the television show "Twin Peaks"  Agent Cooper was seen entering the Black Lodge the date in 3/25/2014. In the movie "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" he is said be trapped in the black lodge but in scenes deleted from the TPFWWM  he escapes.  Well it would be "GREAT" if in real life DAVID LYNCH finally release the deleted footage and do so in that date 3/25/2014.  It would be awesome!    

Corey Monteith RIP Very Sad I don't care how you died , I take your loss personally

31 years old is too young to die.  Regardless how this man died I beg the press to just let him rest in peace.

I am was  a huge fan of the show and Corey was one of the reasons.  His passing makes me sad because I am in recovery myself.  I have 16 years and I know how lucky I am.

GOOD NEWS POLTERGEIST II AND III ARE GETTING SPECIAL EDITIONS DVD & BLU RAY

I am not allowed to state how I know this but I have been informed that the sequels to "Poltergeist" are getting the special edition treatment however they will not be released until sometime in 2014. 

For those of you who don't know there is plenty of Material that has never been released on home video on all the "Poltergeist" Films.  The originally shot material by Tobe Hooper on the first film to the many deleted scenes that were found in the "Poltergeist II" screenplay but never made it to the final cut of the film.  There is also all the materiel from the third film that has many fans of series want to see including the original ending.

"Poltergeist III: underwent re-shoots after the star Heather O'Rourke died.  Even though the film had wrapped months prior to her death for some reason the studio ordered re-shoots and what the original is like is anybody's guess  after 25 years it would be nice to finally see what the original ending was... Maybe Now we will know

ARE WE GETTING THE "HALLOWEEN" FOOTAGE THAT HAD THE ALTERNATE TAKES ON THE NEW DVD

In 2006 "Halloween" the original Carpenter Classic made Huge News on the Internet because the outtakes were found and what was exciting was it had alternate scenes of the famous film including a different ending and the original take of Laurie Phone call from Annie (Now your hearing obscene chewing).

This was 7 years ago and this footage has never been publicly shown or released on any home video format.
Also that might be other footage that was shot for the Television Edition.  Who knows it might have Never before seen "Scenes".

All of the listed movies I have watched at the movies. All of them could of been cut by 10 minutes or more! Movies should not bore people. Directors seem to forget "No matter what if a scene does not advance the plot then the scene is not needed". 

Most movies never need to be over 2 hours. IF a director wants a longer version of the movie then the studio should release that version on DVD.

When a film is longer then 2 hours I get antsy!    If Hollywood insist on a film that is over 2 hours then give us a 10 minute intermission. I think Hollywood forgets people get bored fast and need to pee every 2 hours!

Eddie Murphy was funny.  You would never know this if the only films you ever saw of his were the last 6 live action films that he has been in!

DISNEY ROBIN HOOD I STILL LIKE THIS FILM

I like this film.  I can not believe that it is now 40 years old.  What I remember the most about this film was begging my parents to buy me the record. This was years before anybody ever herd term VHS or DVD.


Now once my parents did I was so disappointed because the record skipped!   I think they had to take it back 3 or 4 times.  Nowadays nobody buys records or CD's.  Today's generation never has to wait a year to watch "The Wizard of Oz" again.  they don't have to wait 7 years for Disney to re-issue "Snow White".

For some reason I miss those days!!!

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK I AM HOPING FORA BIG SCREEN RE-RELEASE

I am hoping that maybe this will get a major re-release on the big screen!  Maybe even be converted into a 3d film?  

TOOTSIE A CLASSIC FILM

Now this film is loved by those who have seen this and its in the millions!    Even though it lost the Academy Award to "Gandhi" I find it very comforting that 30 years later people will still watch "Tootsie" over "Gandhi".  The public has away of letting the Academy Know that they are full of shit!   

WE ARE LOSING THE SLASHER-HORROR FILMS OF THE 1980'S

I love the horror films of the 1980's.  What most people don't know is that we are in danger of losing many of them.  Now most of the best known titles were not made by the major Hollywood Studios!  They were made in Canada.  Now since these films are not owned by the majors the negatives are owned by people that don't really take care of them.  If you look at the film "Prom Night" the DVD transfer is bad.  A new print needs to come off of a negative however that cost money!  The negative however is now 33 years old and most likely not kept in the best condition and most likely needs to be restored.  If that doesn't happen soon the negative will be gone forever!



This is also true of "Terror Train"  "The PRowler"  "silent Scream" "House"  "The Hills have Eyes" "Torso" "The Boogeyman" "toolbox Murders" "The Godsend" "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead things" and even "Day of the Dead".  Yes some these were made by American Companies however not by film studios.  The negatives to these films are not kept in a proper storage facility.


Now these are not critical darlings however the fans of these films are very devoted and are most likely to buy these films.  Fans of "Out of Africa" are not movie buyers!

These films need to find a safe place to be stored.  It would be a shame if the negatives are not preserved!

Think about this  "Prom Night" will still have still have fans in 2043 but I doubt most people by then will ever watch "Argo" "The Artist" "Crash" "The Last Emperor" "Rainman" "Gandhi" "The BEst years of our Lives".

Yes the above are all best picture winners however in another 10 years most of these films will be forgotten if there not already!  Horror fans always love anything and they will watch older films to get a good scare.  Even today "Frankenstein" "The Wolf-man" the Vincent Price Films still get new fans daily.   We still can watch those films today because they were made by the major studios.  This is not the case for the slasher films of the 1980's.

The same can not be said for the Horror/Slasher Films of the 1980's..  they need to be protective.    If we don't preserve them they will be lost.  That would be a shame.  

ZERO DARK THIRTY A MUST SEE

This film was great.  It was much better then "Argo".  What I loved about this film was the fact was realistic.. 

MAN OF STEEL MAY REVISE WARNERS INTEREST IN A NEW SUPEMAN THE MOVIE RELEASE

Since the "man of steel" is a hit I hope Warner Brothers will  revisit the original film and release a DVD that contains all the deleted scenes from the original edition!  They have released some but not all.  Fans would love to own official editions on DVD that contains all of the deleted footage.


Now this  footage doesn't have to be edited  back into the film but it would be a great extra!

HALLOWEEN II 1981 VERSION MY OPINION & SPOILERS AND ROB ZOMBIE

This film to me completes the first film.  I love the first one but I also love this film as well.   Now technically speaking "Halloween II" should of been the end of the "Halloween" & Michael Myers.

The reason why the  "Halloween" films should have ended here is because it was disclosed that in this film that Michael was stalking Jamie Lee Curtis because she was his sister. That was the last great moment in the entire franchise!

 I didn't mind this new angle on Michael and Laurie.  However now that we learn that Michael only goes after siblings it made making anymore movies without Jamie Lee Curtis problematic. Besides at the end of this film Michael & Dr Loomis die in a huge fire!  However that was changed of course for later sequels.

When John Carpenter and Debra Hill still had control over the "Halloween" films  we got in 1982  the Micheal Myers-less Sequel "Halloween III" which was good but fans wanted to see Michael Myers and 6 years later he came back but this time he went after his niece.    In future installments he went after distant relatives.  Later Jamie Lee Curtis returned for "Halloween H20" and a cameo for "Halloween Resurrection"

When I herd they were remaking "Halloween" I thought great this time they will make Myers attack anyone for any reason .  Well Rob Zombie fucked up.  HE copied the errors that the original producers did.  He made Michael attack family.   Then again whoever thought it was a good idea to have Rob Zombie do a remake should of been shot anyway.

Now the longest dry spell we had between "Halloween" films is 6 years.  It was 6 years between "Halloween III" and "Halloween Iv".   It was 6 years between "Halloween v" and "Halloween VI".   This year will mark the 5th year without a  new "Halloween" film however there is rumblings that a new "Halloween" film is coming in 2015.  Funny it will be 6 years since the last "Halloween" film.


UPDATE  IN OCTOBER OF 2019 JOHN CARPENTER AND JAMIE LEE CURTIS RETURN TO THE FILM FRANCHISE  THAT MADE THEM LEGENDS. 

IT IS SAID TO BE IGNORING ALL THE SEQUELS AND THE ROB ZOMBIE SHITSHOWS. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS FILM!

RICHARD GERE NEVER LOOKED HOTTER

Richard Gere never looked hotter. "An Officer and a Gentlemen" he was Sexy beyond words!  The scene at the dance with him smiling to be has always been a big turn on!   

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN FILM

Major Hollywood studios no longer make these types of films and that's  sad.   I would rather sit through another weepie like these movies then another comic book movie.  

RABBIT TEST I GOT A DVD

I got it on Ioffer for under $7 bucks and it has perfect audio and video! .  The movie is not that great but it does make me laugh!  I wanted to see it again I finally did!  

STAR WARS THE ORIGINAL 1977 EDITON WILL MOST LIKELY GET A BLU-RAY RELEASE

Disney paid $4 Billion Dollars for the Star Wars Films.  I can not see them passing an opportunity to recoup some the investment FAST! By restoring the original edition it would generate millions of dollars in blu-ray sales!

If they rebuild en exact replica of this ship I would love to go on it!  I just hope on the maiden voyage the first guest on the ship would be "relatives" of  the original passengers that were on the ship on 1912.   

Paula Deen is ignorant but not a racist

I hate it when people keep kicking someone when they are down.  Now I have never bought a "Paula Deen" product however I will not boycott her because she made a very stupid mistake.

UNDER THE DOME A HIT

CBS seems to have scored a hit with this Summer Show.  I am hoping that maybe the Broadcast Networks will finally start branching out there cocoons and realize that people will watch new shows in the Summer...

People seem to forget that "Survivor" started out as a Summer Show  It was a huge hit.

The Death of Donna Summer was more of a shocker to me then the death of WHiteny Houston or Michael Jackson.  

I love Donna Summer. The Greatest Hits album I still play in my car especially on long road trips!
She makes a long dark road very enjoyable.

Still love this album!  Corny maybe?  However has the ever been a better musica?  FYI if you adjusted the box office gross of THE SOUND OF MUSIC it would be over a BILLON in todays dollars.  That Dwards the $750,000,000 of Avitar the current box office champ! 

CULTURE CLUB CD WAKING UP WITH THE HOUSE ON FIRE

Not the best colections of songs on this Album however I do love "The War Song" and the love song "Mistake #3".   I would be disapointed if I ever saw CC in concert and they dodn't sing these songs. 

EVEN I CAN'T STOMACH A "SEX AND THE CITY MARATHON"

After Hurricane Katrina we had no cable for weeks.  So we bought the "Sex and the City" Complete Box Set and by the end of watching the entire six seasons I was sick of "Carrie Bradshaw".

If you ever pay close attention in every episode she pouts and paces by her computer saying " I couldn't Sleep".

Now years later I did enjoy the first movie but the 2nd movie was garbage... I hope there is one more movie.  I would hate to see "Sex and the City 2" be the last impression I have of this show!! 

HEY BROADWAY PRODUCERS REVIVE CARNIVAL

A full scale production would be a huge event.  the show hasn't been done in years and there is a whole new generations that could discover this gem!!!
