This is one terrific, if irreverant film. It is astounding that after 31 years (and with at least 4 very well known actors), it has still not been released on tape of DVD.

I liked it for 3 reasons:

1. It gives younger folks an very likeable introduction to George Burns, the consummate vaudeville entertainer - even if they don't yet know what the vaudeville era was all about.

2. Brooke Shields was still a young and awkward actress (filmed between Pretty Baby and Blue Lagoon). She turns in a credible performance, if not for the problem with her appearance. Kids who are drug runners for thugs like Demesto don't look like pin-up models with professional hair stylists and vocal coaches. After all, she is one very beautiful child and the director never lets you see anything less.

3. It's fun for the whole family. Well, maybe... In my book, it is family fare -tame 'G-rated' stuff. But watch out...

We watched with our neighbors, including a 9 yr old girl & 12 yr boy. These kids attend a private religious school and the parents prefer to shield them from foul language. (I am not sure why, but many parents do try to control exposure). The parents winced during one scene that showed Brooke's nude backside and several scenes where Brooke and the drug dealer use the words "B**ch" and "S**t". But later, the mom told us that she had no problem with the movie, because the words were used in context and without glorification of the characters or their action. Now, that's what I call a bit more enlightened than I had feared.

Hi Stan. Good to see that you still offer this rare gem.

I acquired it from you 3 yrs ago, and was happy to see it. Quality was low compared with today's DVD and Blu-Ray/HD videos, but still quite acceptable. It was probably dubbed from a TV broadcast.

I am still surprised that this film was never distributed for purchase or rental. It makes no sense at all. It's not even available as a torrent from private collectors. You may be the only source on earth (?!)
