Tv Should Bring Back Designing Women

"Designing Women" is one of my all time favorite shows. Recently the show finally made its DVD debut. A compilation DVD was released years ago but this is the first an entire season has made it to home video.

The show debut one year after "The Golden Girls". It was always compared to that show but in reality the only thing they had in common was a primary female cast.

Designing Women went off the air in 1993. However that doesn't mean the show is dated far from it. Yes there is the occasional "Topical Reference at the time" thrown in but in general the episodes seem like they were just made yesterday. In other words "The Show Holds Up".

This brings me to the reason why I am doing this post. I think its about time that Network TV should revive this show with the original cast.

It would not be hard to do. The show picks up 16 years after Sugarbakers has closed it doors.

Now think of the issues that can be explored with these women. "Retirement", "Loss of Pension", "Rebuilding a life", "Going back to work", "Competing with your past", "When do you stop parenting", "Saving a marriage", "Learning trust again", "Learning new tricks", "Fighting for what is right", "Trying to stay relevant", "Coping with sudden loss" etc. etc.

NBC you should think about it. You need a hit show.
