Vanessa Williams The biggest comeback of them all

I was 16 when Vanessa Williams became the first African American to be crowned Miss America. I thought at the moment when she won "Its about time". That was around September 1984. In July 1984 Miss America officials took away her crown when nude photos of her and another woman appeared in Penthouse Magazine. It was a shocker sure. What people also forget to mention is that 2 more magazine issues of Penthouse came out with more nude photos & they were from different photographers. The first African American to win Miss America ended up losing the crown and became the first Miss America to relinquish the crown.
I thought if she was a white woman they would of gone after Penthouse not Vanessa.

She was 21 and people all over the entertainment industry said "She is Over". I was 17 closet case then and I thought how can someone at 21 be all washed up. I didn't buy that. She was 4 years older than me and I hated what was being printed and said about this. However I knew "Hollywood" would be proven wrong!

Well Hollywood did not want her in front of the camera. However she went the musical route. in 1988 4 years after the scandal she released her first record. It wasn't a huge hit however her next record produced the now classic song "Save the Best for Last".

Now its 2007. Donald Trump let that white girl keep her crown after pictures surface of her drinking (she is under age). Yes "The Donald" has MISS USA (Not Miss America) but still double standards . Miss USA was bringing guys home almost every night. Vanessa was a perfect Miss America.

Today what I find so funny is that "Miss America" is longer popular. Its not even broadcast on a big TV network anymore. Its now seen on CMT the Country Music Television. Its hosted by C-list star Mario Lopez. Miss America is about kaput! I think its great! Miss America counted Vanessa out now it is 23 years later they are the ones out! Vanessa Williams is on a hit TV show on a major network.

I am sure one day Hollywood will make a movie about Vanessa Williams. Her story, her life will make a great movie. TAKE THAT MISS AMERICA
