If they make a movie of the Musical Sunset Blvd the PERFECT CHOICE IS Michelle Pfeiffer

Now don't get me wrong here.  I loved Glenn Close and Betty Buckley when I saw these saws in person.  I also thought the understudy "Karen Mason" was just as good.   However when the play did open in New York the part still should of been played by Patti LuPone. (who never got a chance to be in a reworked version of the show) .

Now in case you don't know the story Norma Desmond is a former actress of the Silent Movie Days.  When the film became "Talkies" Norma was pushed aside.

Norma is 50 years old in the story.  For years it was rumored to go to either Barbra Streisand Glenn Close or Meryl Streep. Now those ladies are marvelous actors but they are all past 50.  Enter the beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer.

What makes her the perfect choice is that "She is a Movie Star".. She has kind of a secretive life now.  She also thwewrite age but most of all she CAN SING.  The Broadway show worked because they did have movie "STAR" Glenn Close in the role which the audience bought.   Once the show went to "Little Known" actors public was no longer buying tickets to the show.

What I am surprised why this has not been turned into a film is because  this film could be made for less then your typical film.  Most of the action takes place in just 3 locations and all could be filmed on sound-stages without having to shoot for weeks on location!

Now if Andrew Lloyd Webber were to revive this as a play again he should cast  PATTI LuPone.. She deserves a chance.  It would also generate  huge amounts of  press and help drive ticket sales.  After all if the revival is  full scale production it would need huge advance sales in which Patti could deliever.

Now if Patti is out of the question then ALW should cast Betty Buckley or Glenn Close.   Since it is avery demanding role maybe the two could share the role.  Glenn for a month thenBety for a month  and so on.  Now since that won't happen then he should do the Broadway revival with Vanessa Williams.  SHe is well known and the audience would be rooting for Norma's "Return" ..
