Why Won't MORGAN CREEK release the deleted FOOTAGE FROM THE EXORCIST 3 (AKA LEGION)

All of the "Exorcist Films" had to deal with post production fights and controversy's.  Now  "The Exorcist 3"   is a film that has the biggest cult following of any of the sequels and perhaps the most controversial post production history.

Now William Peter Blatty who wrote the original "Exorcist" wrote and directed this film.   However his version/cut of the film has not seen the light of day since its test screening in 1990.  After the unsuccessful test screening the director (against his wishes) had to do some major re-shoots and film on Exorcism scene that was never intended to be in the film.

Now after all these years Morgan Creek has said the "Original Cut of the film is lost".  Well that is bullshit.  Since the 1960's or 1970's the major studios kept "Deleted footage" because  they would never know if they would need this footage to pad out a film for television showings.  ( UNTIL RECENTLY A FILM HAD  TO RUN 96 MINUTES TO FIT A 2 HOUR TIME SLOT AND 120 MINUTES TO FIT A 2 1/2 TIME SLOT).  The original JAWS (Made in 1975) included  had cutting room floor footage re-interested to fit the fill a 2 1/2  hour time slot.

Now Morgan Creek not only produced  this film they also made 2 other "Exorcist Sequels".  Both of those films were bad and lost money.  I would think after all these years they would release the original cut.

For some reason they seem to have a bone to pick with this movie.  Even the DVD releases have never been  treated with any sort of respect in terms of commentary's, deleted  footage or cast interviews..

A great documentary could be made on the subject of "THE EXORCIST SEQUELS".  There is in audience waiting for it.
