REMAKE IDEA CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG

This movie on its initial release was a box office failure. However just like "The Wizard of OZ', "Willy Wonka",and "A Christmas Story" once that started running on TV the became well known movies and gained loyal followings!.

Now "Chity" is a great candidate for remake purposes. I am sure if this does get the remake treatment it would be made as a NON-Musical which is fine by me.  The Songs in this film are mostly forgettable. Even though the score was done by the The Sherman Borther's  (Mary Poppins)  I expected better.

Now the best person to helm this remake would be Chris Columbus.  He is a great writer and directer. People seen to forget he got his start in films as a writer.  In fact he wrote "Gremlins" and "Goonies". 

What also works in his favor is before he directed those "Home Alone: and "Harry Potter" films he did direct the cult favorite "Adventures in Babysitting" andf he turned in an impressive film on such short compressed schedule.  Also the dark-comedy of "Gremlins" is what I picture for a retelling of the magical fable. 

Chris Columbus should really think about directing "Chitty"  I think in his heart he knows he would be awesome..
