LAURA DERN SHINES IN CITIZEN RUTH

Laura Dern was thrown under the bus by Miramax.  She would of been Nominated for Best Actress for this film had Mirmax gotten behind her and this film.  It was a great performance by the BEST ACTRESS IN HER GENERATION.   

Writer Director Alexander Payne first film was a revelation.  Later on he would also write "Sideways" and win an academy award for screenplay however this film to me is much better.  

Now "Citizen Ruth"  is a film that deals with the Abortion issue.  It shows that on both sides of the issues have its extremist-and both sides really don't care about the woman caught in the middle.  

In 1996 MIRAMAX also released "The English Patient" and used its mighty marketing force to get the film nominated (eventually win) Academy Awards.  Too Bad they ignored this film

"The English Patient" today is a film nobody really watches. Even when the "English Patient" was in the middle of its theatrical release the tv show  "Seinfeld" made fun of it  and stated what a huge bore the film really is.         

If you can rent "Citizen Ruth"  You will laugh and  it will make you think!!!
