A film I know you missed Malcolm X

Before it was even released the director "Spike Lee" created  so much controversy over the film that it ended up costing him "Academy Award Nominations".  Now I can't blame the Academy for the snubs that Spike Lee got.    After all he did take the film away from Norman Jewison and shot a 3 hour film when he only got approval for a 2 hour film.  The film went over budget however the reality was that the money was there for a 2 hour film.

Now here it is 21 years later and we can put aside the controversy and see the film for what it is and you know what it is a GREAT FILM.  It was great in 1992 and its even more powerful today.

Now when the film was released it was just months after the LA RIOTS that happened when the Police Officers were acquitted in the beating of Rodney King.   It also didn't  help that the film opens with the famous video of the beating of Rodney King.

Tons of critics thought the film spent too much time on the prison life on "Malcolm X" but the truth is I can not see one scene that should of been cut.

"Malcolm X" is a film that deserves a re-release.  The performance by Denzel  Washington as Malcolm X is more powerful then the performance of Daniel  Day Lewis in Lincoln.

Buy this Film.   You won't be sorry.
