The Cosby Show. A Historical Show that still holds Universal Appeal

There were shows about African Americans before "The Cosby Show" however "Cosby" was a show that wasn't about being a black family it was a show about a family.  Yes they were black but the show had Universal themes that all of us could relate too. 

I know there was never a story about one of the kids not being able to catch a taxi in New York but the show would deal with children breaking the family rules and not living up to the expectations that they were capable of.  

The parenting in this show was also a lesson Adults.  The Parents would always stick by the other parent when it came to children and punishment.   Also watch closely it was always the "behavior" that was being punished and it was never the child.  When a child was punished on this show the child always knwo that they were still loved by the parents.    

If you ever want something to watch I highly recommend you buying  season 1 on dvd.   The show is still funny and who doesn't love Ruddy or later on Olivia.
