BILL L NORTON SHOULD BE PROUD MORE AMERICAN GRAFFITI WORKS! IT DESERVES RESPECT

I am a huge fan of the original "American Graffiti".   In fact it is my favorite film of all time.  So people who know me think I might hate the sequel "More American Graffiti" well they would be wrong.

I am huge fan of this film too.  In fact I was pissed that Universal waited So Long for them to release this on Home Video.  The film was released in 1979.  It did not make onto home video until 1991.  Universal however screwed up.  The Laserdisc release was not in widescreen and fans of the film had to wait another 12 years fir a widescreen DVD release.

Now about the film itself. The film took a chance on how to tell the stories of the characters we loved in the Original.    In the original it was ground breaking.  We had 4 simi-connected stories playing out over the course of the last night of Summer.    In the Sequel Its 4 Semi Connected Stories  that take place on 4 different New years eve.  The weakest story to me is John Milner's story.  Its not too funny and the film is suppose to be a comedy. However there is  an interesting story going on.  Terry Fields Story is only a little better but again it is watchable.  Charles Martin Smith was never better. My favorite Story is Debbie.  Played by the delightful Candy Clark.  She makes Debbie shine.  She makes Debbie a person we love. Which isn't easy.  We see Debbie making some foolish choices but we still route for her.    Cindy Williams and Ron Howard are Steve & Laurie. The chemistry with these two is great.  Ron Howard and Cindy Williams had work on not only the original "American Graffiti" but in between the "Graffiti" films they also worked together on "Happy Days" and Laverne and Shirley".   What makes this so funny is Cindy and Ron make their fights funny and believable.  Throughout the film you have no doubt these two people do love each other but the family home is starting a transition.  The dialog with these two is sharp.  It is the best written  story.

Now Bill L Norton wrote and directed this film and he should be proud of his work.  The film could of been a confusing mess but he was inventive on how to tell each story and not have it be a distraction.

I loved this film. The Soundtrack Record  introduced me (I was only 12 when I saw this) into classic 1960's music and to this day I can't believe that this Soundtrack has never been released on CD.  What a shame.
I just had my LP transferred to a CD.  I have not had a turntable for years. So I had a professional transfer done and it was worth the money!  I loved the Wolfman Jack segments.

Now the film is available on Netflix.  Its also in the proper screen format.  However I recommend buying the film.  You can have it on tv just because the soundtrack of classic Rock is well worth listening too.
