In 2004 when "Friends" ended its run NBC was still hungry for a ratings hit. (Today it still does) Matt LeBlanc was willing to do a spin-off and thus "Joey" was born and a suck feast began.
To be fare its not all of LeBlanc's fault that this show was awful. Now Matt couldn't carry a show however a bigger problem was that Executive Producer and Show Creator "Shana Meehan Goldberg". She was (and still is) a hack writer who only able to get into the business because her dad was in the business.
Now Shana did write for "Friends" for years. However her scripts were most likely beefed up by others. However when she was in charge of helping to get "Joey" off the ground her weakness were front and center 30 seconds after the 1st episode started to air--Shana could not create characters - she had no clue. This is what happens when someone leads a sheltered life and when a career is handed to them without having to struggle for it.
The problems with "Joey" was the fact that there were no "Soul" to these characters. They all sounded the same and had no individualism.
"Joey: however returned for a 2nd year minus Shana however the damage was done and "Joey" became the New "After Mash"
Now as for Shana she went on to create another bad show called "Better with You" another shitty show with the same problems as "Joey"
Now Hollywood and Tv Networks the Next time Shana Meehan Goldberg pitches you a TV-Show please show her the door. If you like her idea keep that but FIRE HER.
