Lord of the Rings Trilogy Who thinks these films suck? I do

We went to see the first "Lord of the Rings" movie went it was first released in 2001.  I was very excited to see this film.  Then about 45 minutes into the FIRST FILM I was out to lose my mind.  I was so BORED.  

I left the theater before the first hour was over and to this day I had no desire to ever finish watching it. MY BF was thrilled with the film.  

Now for some stupid reason I thought I might enjoy "The Hobbit"! We did not go to the movies to see it.  We just rented the DVD and once again I was BORED.  

Tell me what is the appeal of these films?  I don't understand...
