This is a day early. However I start a new job in the morning so I wanted to post this now. Now the weekend is coming. Your about to rent the New Release however take a step back and rent one of these movies that can be found in most video stores. They are older so they are most likely cheaper to rent or buy. Here we go
One of my all time favorite romantic comedies is a classic from 1979. The movie is
"Starting Over". This movie is a classic. Even Burt Reynolds shines in this. It also provided that Candace Bergen could also do a comedy. (She would later star in TV'S MURPHY BROWN). The movie is simple. A man finds himself in a divorce that he doesn't see coming. No he isn't a jerk. His wife is a nutcase but he still in love with her. Things get complicated when his brother sets him up. Trust me you will love this. James L Brooks wrote the screenplay.
"Seems Like Old Times". This movie reunited Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn. They were in the hit movie "Foul Play" and they were reunited in this comedy written by Neil Simon. Charles Grodin co-stars. In this movie a man is forced to rob a bank. Not wanting to go to jail he ends up being a fugitive under his ex-wife's bed.
"When Harry Met Sally" Is the best known movie out of the 3. However if you haven't seen this movie in awhile then see it again. remember this was nominated for Best Screenplay for a reason. Yes the one scene made this an instant classic however the movie is more then that one scene. If you have never seen it then BUY IT. It is a movie you can always out on that will cheer you up. Its a very smart movie that now seems to be a forgotten movie. Too bad. I am surprised that it hasn't become a stage musical.
