Here where are in a Summer of never ending sequels and the never ending spin on disappointing box office receipts. Last week Warner Brothers had to do major back peddling when "Ocean's 13" opened to less business then the previous entries in the Ocean series. Even though "Ocean's 13" was #1 at the box office it was still came in below studio estimates. This week is 20th Century Fox's turn to spin the numbers.
This weekend "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" opened. It was #1 for the weekend however it did the same about at the box office as the previous entry. Now $56,000,000 is a great opening (Much bigger then Ocean's 13) however Silver Surfer was playing in 300 more movie screens then the original "Fantastic Four".
Chances are this "Fantastic Four: Silver Surfer" is going to do less business then the first entry.
Hurray maybe no more Fantastic Four Movies.
