I am going to act like you know all about the controversy of "Superman II". If you don't know then in a nutshell the original director "Richard Donner" was fired from the production. In 2006 he was able to go back and finish his version of "Superman II". This was after years of fans bugging Warner Brothers to allow a Richard Donner to do his edit.
So in 2006 the fans were given the Richard Donner Version however lots of fans were not that impressed and now have gone and made their own cut of "Superman II". So why are they doing this? Well is because lots of them feel that Donner edited out too much of Richard Lesters footage (he was hired to finish Superman II after Donner was fired) and think that they can do a better version. Well I do agree that the Donner Version of "Superman II" could of been better if Michael Thau left some of the Lester Footage in but that is not the main reason. I think the Donner Version could of been better if they did not include the "reversing time angel" again. In fact I would of let Lois keep her memory and the fact that she knows that Clark Kent is Superman.
Recently I sat down and watched a cut put together by a fan that did just that. In fact the version I saw of "Superman II" was 2 1/2 hours long but it didn't seem it.
Now I hope one day Warner Brothers will release "Superman II" the Ultimate Cut. This would not be a first. In fact two other Warner Brothers movies have had 3 cuts of the same movie come to home video. They are "Blade Runner" (The Ultimate Cut is due later this year) and Oliver Stone has just released his 3rd cut of "Alexander" on DVD. So another cut of "Superman II" is not that far fetched!
