I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry opens soon excuse me "COMING OUT SOON". As much as I love the fact Hollywood gave us a great gay-theme movie last year (BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN) they seem to love to give us "straight men stuck in a gay world". IN 1982 Hollywood gave us the classic "VICTOR/VICTORIA" "Making Love" and "PERSONAL BEST".
Those movies were great However that same year Hollywood gave us "PARTNERS" and it was cool again to make fun of gay men.
However in 1982 AIDS was becoming nightly news. Gay men were then targeted and soon it was no longer to be safe in "AMERICA" if you were a gay man. You felt like straight people hated you and blamed you for AIDS.
Here we are again in 2007 and as the saying goes "The more things change the more they stay the same". This brings me too "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry".
I am mad as hell about this movie. First of all how could Keven James or Adam Sandler be a firefighters? The firefighters I see are good lucking and well built. These two clowns are neither.
I already hate this movie without having to see it. In the preview it show Chuck (or Larry) punching his "husband" at the wedding ceremony. He does this because they were to kiss after taking their wedding vows. This to me reinforces to the audience that its not okay to be gay and if a gay man wants to kiss you (or hell a pretend to be gay man) you better punch him!
Another scene in the movie shows a girl talking to Adam Sandler's charector saying "Woman to Woman". This also tells the audience that "Someone has to be the girl".
In the preview is also shows Keven James getting "jealous" and "bitchy". Who wrote this shit? A 15 year-old?
"I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" is a throw back to "homophobia" "gay jokes and stereotypes".
Now I am sure in the movie these guys will have some sort of gay party complete with drag queens effeminate men & a straight acting gay man who of course ends up hitting on Chuck or Larry. Then of course there Will be Larry or Chuck feeling out of place
and calling the wrong person "GIRLFRIEND".
I am sure "Chuck and Larry" will have some sory of spritial awakening by the end of the movie and see that there is nothing wrong with being gay.
I thought "WE as a counrty" were beyond this crap.
If the movie bombs then maybe we are.
