"Designing Women" has always been in the shadow of other shows when it was originally Broadcast on CBS starting in 1986. It was called a "Golden Girls" rip-off however anyone who watched 1 episode of "DW" could tell you the only things the shows had in common was they featured a primary female cast and filmed on front of an audience. Later on "Murphy Brown" ended up with all the acclaim and awards! However "DW" today has a bigger fan base then "Murphy Brown"
(SIDEBAR 25+ years later look at "DW" the show shines bright because it was shot on film. "GG" was shot in video and looks cheap)!
"Designing Women" still is funny today as it was in 1986. I think the shhow will stand the test of time because it was never afraid to tackle controversial subjects and have an opinion on them! These ladies were "The View" before there was "The View"
