Andrew Lloyd Webber should revive his musical "Sunset Blvd" with Betty Buckley and Vanessa Williams

"Sunset Blvd" is a play that only works in the full scale production. The show however needs a big star to carry the show and not be outdone by the Special Effects.  "Betty Buckley" was did appear in "Sunset" was a great Norma and after she left the Broadway production  it folded.

The musical adaption was a brilliant theater however Andrew fired 2 Acting Legends along the way and he hasn't had a major hit since.  So I think in order for him to clear his Karma HE NEEDS TO DO A REVIVAL with "Betty" and she should alternate the role with the Impressive Vanessa Williams who would be a great Norma Desmond.  However if .  Glenn Close  should be re-cast as Norma that would be great as well however (and it will never happen) Patti LuPone should asked to reprise Norma.  ( She was fired before she was able to do the re-worked edition that Glenn Close was able to do)

Now when I say "Full Scale Production" I mean the way the play was presented in 1994 and ended up wining the Tony Award for Glenn Close and the play itself.  George Hearn also won.

Later I saw  a touring production with Petula Clark  and was BAD BAD  BAD.   It was "Scaled down" and what made the musical worth watching was now cut from the play.  Lots of sons were re-worked into dialog and the amazing set was now a static bore.

The reason why I think Betty and Vanessa should share the role is because the role is very demanding and  it is a huge undertaking.  If two actress shared the role I think it would be a first.   The play as wonderful as it is needs something different to sell tickets and that would be a great attention getter.

The Musical closed in 1997 and a decent version of the play hasn't been seen in the USA in years.  There is a huge following for this musical and revival would be more popular then the revival of "Chicago"
