OFFICIAL DVD RELEASE OF COME BACK TO THE FIVE AND DIME JIMMY DEAN JIMMY DEAN IS WANTED

Cher proved she was a great actress in this film.   The film was adapted from the Broadway Show of the same name.   The movie however is Out of Print.  The Vhs and Laserdisc have all disappeared  from store shelves.  IOFFER.COM seems to be the only place you can get the film at a decent price ($7.00)  however the film has never been released on DVD or Blu-ray.  This is one of those titles that should be released by "Olive Films" or "Criterion".  There is also the "SHout Fasctory"  and "Anchor Bay".

Now about 2 years ago UCLA showed its restored version of the film.  I thought "Great A DVD must be coming"  boy was I wrong.   Also it is a bit confusing on who really might own the home video rights

I am not sure what the hold up might be and why there is no DVD release.  It could be "Music" rights but it could be something else.  The Last VHS release of the film was released by j2 and that company went bankrupt years ago.  Its first Vhs release was by Embassy which is also no longer around. I think that  HOme Video Company was bought out by New-Line and now those titles that were once owned by Embassy ( and Later New Line Cinema)  are now owned by MGM which releases their film through Sony.

What also strange is that maybe Paramount Pictures now own the rights because in the closing credits "Showtime" was a producer of the film which is owned by Viacom which own Paramount and Showtime   Now here is another twist.  Paramount Pictures no longer has a home video department.  They outsourced that department to Warner Brothers
